DNA Architects was awarded the opportunity to design the Forked River Service Area located on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. DNA kept a similar exterior design language of previous Atlantic and Monmouth Service Area buildings to keep integrity of branding the Garden State Parkway buildings subject to NJ Historical and in some cases Pinelands regulations. In keeping with the “local theme”, the interior design concept focus was a combination of the local area, including park, wildlife and marina themes which speak to the locality of Forked River. Colors, finishes,and art throughout the building reflect the elements of both the shore/marina as well as the wooded park giving an overall warm and natural ambience to the interior, paying homage to the local community.
