DESCRIPTION

The iconic Flatiron building, designed by Chicago’s Daniel Burnham, was completed in 1902 and was one of the tallest buildings in New York City. After over nine decades of deterioration and crumbling, missing terra-cotta stones needed to be replaced. In the early 1990s, a major restoration project was planned and executed, led by Dean Mercado and Alberto Penna during their time at MJM Studios. Dean and Alberto were responsible for site documentation, construction documentation, and the reproduction coordination/management of over 500 individual architectural ornamental stones.
